Jeep’s best-selling mid-size SUV is getting a timely refresh for 2026, and the spotlight falls on a new engine that packs surprising power into a smaller package. Alongside mechanical upgrades, Jeep has refined styling, tech, and trim offerings to keep the Grand Cherokee competitive and modern.
Meet the Hurricane 4
The headline feature is the all-new Hurricane 4: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder delivering 324 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. This engine boasts forged internals, a DOHC layout, and a variable-geometry turbo, while introducing Turbulent Jet Ignition—a pre-chamber combustion system first seen in Maserati’s Nettuno V-6. Daily driving should feel lively and responsive. Jeep reports that 80% of peak torque is available from just 2,300 rpm through 4,500 rpm. Production will take place in Dundee, Michigan, while the familiar 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and 4xe plug-in hybrid remain in the lineup.
Subtle But Smart Design Tweaks
The Grand Cherokee’s seven-slot grille gains added depth, while new daytime running lights feature a hockey-stick signature. The lower fascia has been reshaped for improved cooling. Off-road-focused Trailhawk models retain their rugged styling, while 4xe models swap their blue accents for red recovery hooks and a red hood decal.
Inside, the biggest upgrade is screen size. The infotainment display grows to 12.3 inches, replacing the previous 10.1-inch option. Interior materials and audio have also been upgraded, with Summit Reserve trims now featuring Palermo leather, real oak accents, and a 19-speaker McIntosh system. Jeep has streamlined the trim lineup to Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, and Summit, with Altitude and Reserve packages adding extra features. Notably, the Laredo Altitude now comes standard with the Hurricane 4 and the larger display.
The long-wheelbase Grand Cherokee L continues to offer three rows of seating, with the same engine and feature options. New paint colors—Steel Blue, Fathom Blue, and Copper Shino—add to the refreshed palette for 2026.
